Ahrefs Pricing 2026: Where the Cheap Plan Stops Being Cheap
Ahrefs pricing starts at $29 a month for Starter and $129 for Lite, but on Lite the sticker price isn't always the bill. Credit top-ups and teammate seats decide whether Lite stays the cheap plan, and the math below shows where Standard becomes the better deal.
Ahrefs Pricing by Plan, Monthly and Annual
Here is Ahrefs pricing as listed on ahrefs.com/pricing on October 30, 2026. Prices change, so check the live page before you buy.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Credits per user | Extra users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ahrefs Free | $0 | Not applicable | Site Explorer and Site Audit for your own sites | Not applicable |
| Starter | $29 | Monthly only | 200 | None allowed |
| Lite | $129 | $1,290 a year ($107.50 a month) | 1,000 | Up to 2, billed by use |
| Standard | $249 | $2,490 a year ($207.50 a month) | Unlimited | Up to 5 at $60 each |
| Advanced | $449 | $4,490 a year ($374.17 a month) | Unlimited | Up to 10 at $80 each |
| Enterprise | $1,499 | Annual commitment required | Unlimited | 3 included, more at $100 each |
On Lite, Standard and Advanced, annual billing charges ten months for twelve. That works out to 16.7% off, which matches the "save up to 17%" line Ahrefs shows above the plans.
Ahrefs' own help article on the "2 months free" yearly discount calls it roughly 20%, and so does the search snippet for Ahrefs' plans page. The math says 16.7%, so budget with the smaller number.
Beyond that annual saving, Ahrefs says "We never run discounts," and it offers no free trial. Refunds are generally not issued, though you can cancel anytime and keep access until the period ends.
I pay for Ahrefs myself and earn nothing if you buy it. If you want the research and content skills I run on top of tools like this, my Claude Code Skills Stack holds the ones I use for my own marketing.

What One Ahrefs Credit Actually Buys
A credit is one report action. Opening a report in Site Explorer or Keywords Explorer costs 1 credit, and each filter, date change or Inspect click after that costs 1 more.
Some actions are cheap for what they return. Per Ahrefs' help article on what spends a credit, Keywords Explorer takes up to 10,000 keywords for 1 credit, and repeating the same report within 30 minutes is free.
So Lite's 1,000 credits a month works out to roughly 45 credit-spending actions per working day. That is plenty for one person checking a few sites, and tight for someone doing competitor research all day.
Site Audit and Rank Tracker run on their own limits, so crawls and keyword tracking never touch your credits. That matters more for Ahrefs pricing than it looks, because those are the tools most people run on autopilot.
One inconsistency to know about. Ahrefs' plan-comparison help article lists Lite at 1,000 credits per user in one table and 500 in another, so treat the pricing page's 1,000 as current and confirm it on your account's limits page.
The Third Top-Up Is Where Lite Costs More Than Standard
Run out of credits on Lite and you have two choices. You can buy pay-as-you-go top-ups at $50 per 500 credits, or move up to Standard, where credits per user are unlimited.
Top-ups are off by default in account settings, so nothing gets charged until you switch them on. Top-up credits go into one shared pool that any Power user can draw on after using up their own allowance.
Here is Ahrefs pricing with top-ups added, on monthly billing, counting each teammate as a Power user at the plan's seat price.
| Who uses it | Lite | Lite + 2 top-ups | Lite + 3 top-ups | Standard |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Just you | $129 | $229 | $279 | $249 |
| You + 1 Power teammate | $169 | $269 | $319 | $309 |
| You + 2 Power teammates | $209 | $309 | $359 | $369 |
On monthly billing, a solo Lite user who needs a third $50 top-up in the same month pays $279, which is $30 more than Standard's $249 with unlimited credits. The same third top-up tips a two-person account past Standard too, while a three-person account stays cheaper on Lite until a fourth top-up.
Unused top-up credits last three billing months if your plan renews on time. So one heavy month is not the signal to upgrade, but needing a third top-up month after month is.

Annual billing moves the line a little. Prepaid top-ups cost $300 a year for an extra 500 credits each month, so a solo account on annual billing stays cheaper on Lite through three of them and ties Standard at the fourth.
Plenty of accounts never get there. Ahrefs' usage-based pricing article says that across all its paid users, only 20% needed extra monthly credits, which makes Lite a reasonable place to start for light use.
The $20 Teammate Charge on Lite
On Lite, extra seats are not a flat fee. Each teammate is billed by how many credits they use in the month, and that is the part of Ahrefs pricing that is easiest to miss.
- 0 to 5 credits: free, so a teammate who logs in and glances at the dashboard costs nothing.
- 6 to 100 credits: a Casual user, $20 for the month.
- 101 to 1,000 credits: a Power user, $40 for the month.

So a client you invited who opens a handful of reports and tries a few filters can add $20 to the bill. Ahrefs also says charges apply for any usage recorded that billing period, even if you remove the person before it ends.

Standard and above work differently. Extra users are a flat $60, $80 or $100 a month on Standard, Advanced and Enterprise, with unlimited credits each.
Starter, Free and the Plan You Can't Go Back To
Ahrefs pricing at the low end has two options with hard walls. Ahrefs Free gives website owners limited Site Explorer and Site Audit access for sites they verify.
Starter, at $29 a month, adds Keywords Explorer and Rank Tracker with 200 credits a month. According to Ahrefs' Starter plan announcement, it renews monthly only, and you can't buy extra credits, users or add-ons on it.
Starter also has no API or MCP access. And in Ahrefs' words, "You cannot downgrade from a Lite or higher plan to a Starter plan."
So stay on Starter until its 200 credits or its missing API access actually hold you back. Moving up is easy, and moving back down to Starter is not an option Ahrefs offers.
Add-Ons That Change the Monthly Bill
Lite and higher plans can bolt on extras, and these are where Ahrefs pricing drifts the furthest from the plan price. Here are the add-ons listed on October 30, 2026.
- Content Kit, from $99 a month: AI content grading and writing help.
- Report Builder, $99 a month: 50 reports with scheduling, against the 5 reports Lite includes.
- Brand Radar AI, from $199 a month: AI search visibility research, also sold on its own.
- Custom AI prompt packages, $50, $100 or $250 a month, for teams that only need to track their own AI prompts.
- Project Boost Pro or Max, $20 or $200 a month per project: faster always-on audits and IndexNow submission.
- Traffic Analytics, $99 a month: competitor traffic beyond organic search.
Lite already includes 150 checks a month on tracked AI prompts. If you want Ahrefs data inside Claude or ChatGPT, I covered how API units work in my breakdown of Ahrefs API pricing and unit math.
If the plan plus add-ons is more than you'll pay, pay-per-request data is the main cheaper route. I compared the two models in DataForSEO vs Ahrefs, including what you give up without Ahrefs' backlink index.
Picking an Ahrefs Plan by How You Work
Treat Ahrefs pricing as a usage question, not a feature list. One person checking a few sites belongs on Lite, and annual billing saves $258 a year there.
Move to Standard when you keep needing a third top-up every month, when a fourth person needs access, or when six months of history is too short. And if you only want to see what Ahrefs shows on your own site, Ahrefs Free costs nothing.
Ahrefs Pricing FAQs
How much does Ahrefs cost per month?
On monthly billing as of October 30, 2026, Ahrefs costs $29 for Starter, $129 for Lite, $249 for Standard and $449 for Advanced. Enterprise is $1,499 a month with an annual commitment. Paying yearly takes 16.7% off Lite, Standard and Advanced, which brings Lite to $107.50 a month. Extra users and credit top-ups are billed on top of the plan price.
Is Ahrefs Lite enough for one person?
For light use, yes. Lite gives one user 1,000 credits a month, roughly 45 credit-spending actions per working day, and Ahrefs says only 20% of its paid users needed extra credits. On monthly billing, a solo user who keeps needing a third $50 top-up pays more than Standard's $249, which also removes the credit limit.
Does Ahrefs offer a free trial or a discount?
There is no free trial, and Ahrefs says it never runs discounts. The closest options are Ahrefs Free, which covers Site Explorer and Site Audit for sites you verify, and annual billing on Lite, Standard and Advanced, which charges ten months for twelve. That is a 16.7% saving, even though one Ahrefs help article rounds it to 20%.
Why does my Ahrefs bill show charges for extra users?
On Lite and older credit-based plans, teammates are billed by usage. Anyone who spends more than 5 credits in a month becomes a Casual user at $20, and past 100 credits a Power user at $40. The charge applies to usage recorded that billing period, even if you removed the person before it ended.
